How to Fund a Mural

A practical plan for bringing more art and stronger community connections to your town. Go from an idea to a funding plan you can share with a potential partner.

Start here: your first 60 minutes

  • Define the project. Record the wall, purpose, permission status and the person responsible.
  • Build the budget. Use actual estimates for artist pay, preparation, equipment and costs outside the artist’s quote.
  • Map the funding. Separate money received, written commitments and hopeful asks to find the real gap.
  • Make one next move. Name five qualified prospects and set a date for your first sponsor conversation.

About the founder

Meet Jason White

Jason White is a mural artist based in Searcy, Arkansas, and the owner of White’s Artworks: A Mural Company. For more than 15 years he has worked professionally with small businesses, schools, churches and community groups across the state, handling everything it takes to sell, design, prepare, paint and finish public-facing artwork.

  • Murals in Searcy, Cabot, Arkadelphia, Mansfield and Stuttgart
  • Serves as chairperson of Searcy Creative, a separate nonprofit that supports public art in Searcy

He started ArtMyTown because he kept seeing the same thing: towns that want a mural but have no clear path to a budget, a wall, the money or the right artist. ArtMyTown is built to make that path simple.
